Vessel card — hull number, air draft and papers at a glance
Open the one screen that answers a dockmaster, a bridge tender or a boarding officer: hull number, air draft, MMSI, call sign, documentation number, and which papers are about to expire.
The vessel card is the reference screen. Everything somebody asks you for over the radio or at a fuel dock lives on it — hull number, length, beam, draft, air draft, MMSI, call sign, documentation and registration numbers, insurance — and an Expiring section below them lists any paperwork that has expired or is about to. It is read-only on purpose: you open it, read the number out, and close it. To change the boat's own details, tap her name and photo at the top of the card — the vessel editor; the Edit links on the system sections (Hull identity, Propulsion, Generators and the rest) open those systems' editors.
Owner of record is not on the card at all. It lives in the vessel editor — tap the boat's name and photo at the top of the card — at the head of the Papers section, above the documentation and registration numbers. It is whoever the boat is TITLED to — you, an LLC, a trust — and plenty of boats this size are held by a company for liability. Enter the name exactly as it reads on the documentation. Once you have filled it in, it prints in the Vessel Handbook at the head of the papers block, so what you hand a surveyor, a buyer or an insurer agrees with the paperwork instead of quietly disagreeing with it.
Leaving it blank is fine and says nothing — it is not a claim that you own her personally, and the handbook leaves the line out rather than printing that it is not on file. theONE has no way to check a title and never pretends to: this is your own statement of how the boat is held.
It has nothing to do with who can use the app. People are invited separately, with their own roles.
Steps
-
Open it from the Briefing
Menu (☰) → Vessel Briefing → tap the vessel's name at the top (the line with the chevron, above her length, beam, draft and homeport). That opens the card. (There is no Briefing tab; the tabs are Mission Control, Playbook, Chart, Maintenance and Stowage.) (The editor is one tap further in: the boat's name and photo at the top of the card.)
-
Air draft — the number that decides a bridge
Air draft is the height from the waterline to the tallest fixed thing on the boat — hardtop, mast, antenna, radar arch. It sits beside length, beam and draft. If you have never measured it, the row is BLANK rather than zero, on purpose: a card that says 0 ft reads as 'fits under anything', and that is the one lie that costs a hardtop.
-
Papers
USCG documentation number, state registration, MMSI, call sign, insurance carrier and policy number. The whole section is hidden until you fill at least one in, so an empty boat's card is not six blank lines. MMSI is stored as text so a leading zero survives — 003669999 is not 3669999.
-
Expiring
Anything expired or coming due appears in an Expiring section on the card — below The boat, Hull identity, Papers and Dimensions — expired first, in the same words as the pills in the Document Vault. It is a glance, not the vault — four at most. Archived documents never appear here; a superseded certificate is supposed to be out of date.
-
Fill it in
Tap the boat's name and photo at the top of the card to open the vessel editor. Air draft is in Dimensions and follows whichever unit you have set; Papers is its own section below it. Nothing here is required — fill in what you actually get asked for.
