Find anything with the search box
One box, behind the magnifier in the top right of every screen — a screen, a record, or a question. You never have to learn the menu.
Search is the magnifier in the top right of the screen — the same corner on every tab: Mission Control, Playbook, Chart, Maintenance and Stowage. One door, one box, always in the same place. The title bar does not scroll, so it stays reachable however far down you are.
Type where you want to go, the name of something aboard, or a question — the answers come back in one list: places to go first, then matching records, then help articles, and always a final 'Ask theONE' row.
Steps
-
Open the box
Tap the magnifier in the top right. It is in the same corner on every tab — Mission Control, Playbook, Chart, Maintenance and Stowage. The keyboard appears with the cursor in the field. Before you type, the box shows your recent doors and six good places to start.
-
Type a place
'fuel' opens the Fuel Log (for the owner, a manager, the captain and the crew — crew see fills without prices or receipts). 'chart' or 'map' jumps to the Chart tab. 'fleet' opens Fleet (your vessels). 'crew' opens the Crew Book. 'add oil change' or 'log service' opens a new work order. Every screen in the menu (☰) has a door here, and the everyday words for it work too — 'diesel', 'dinghy', 'who's aboard'.
-
Type a name
A route, a system, a document, a manual, a vendor, a crew card, a playbook, a trip, a Notepad note or a stowage item — type part of its name and it appears under its own heading, five per kind. Tap it and you land on that record, or — for a route, a document or a manual — on the screen that holds it. Documents and manuals are listed for the owner, a manager and the captain. On a boat you are signed in to as crew, the crew card listed is your own, as in the Crew Book.
-
Ask a question
Three or more words, or a question mark, is a question. 'When did I change the impeller?' goes to Ask, which answers from this boat's own record and shows the help articles it used. Tap the 'Ask theONE' row at the bottom of any result list.
-
Press Go for the top hit
Go on the keyboard takes the first result in the list — for 'fuel' that is the Fuel Log. A question is no different: 'Ask theONE' is always the last row, so if your words match a door, a record or a help article, Go opens that instead. Tap the 'Ask theONE' row to reach Ask. Two taps from anywhere to anything.
-
When you need the deep search
The box lists doors, the ten record kinds above, and help. For issues, observations, legs, calendar events and jots, tap the 'Deep search' door in the list — that search reads every record on this device that your own screens would show you: the jots your Jot inbox shows, and the vault's documents only for the owner, a manager and the captain.
