Welcome — the 5 things to know first

If you only read one article, read this one.

theONE is built around one idea: the boat changes, the captain remembers. Five things to know before you tap anything else.

Steps

  1. Mission Control is home

The dashboard you see when you open the app is Mission Control. It shows your next trip, today's weather and tides, open observations, telemetry tiles, and quick actions. Everything else is one tap deeper.

  2. The TODAY card is the work view

Open Mission Control and tap the TODAY card. It's a phase-aware checklist — pre-departure, underway, post-operation — and it surfaces the right tasks for the active trip automatically.

  3. Every tile is tappable

If you can see it on Mission Control or the TODAY view, you can tap it to drill into the history, edit the value, or jump to the source. Fuel gauge → fuel history. The TODAY chip's conditions row → 7-day NOAA forecast; there is no Weather block on Mission Control, and weather lives on the TODAY chip. Wind tile → wind history. We call this 'many doors, one truth' — no hidden screen with a different answer.

  4. The menu (☰) holds the rest of the boat

Top-left menu (☰) on any tab opens the navigation panel: Vessel & ops (Briefing, Trips, Chart, Notes), Operational records (Maintenance Log, Fuel Log, Expense Report, Logs, Documents, Owner Week Digest), Safety, and Help & settings. Jot sits at the top; then Calendar, Ship's Directory, Foresight and the Sync status row live there too; the User Role picker is in the menu on Mission Control only.

  5. Search finds anything

ONE DOOR: the magnifier in the top right, on every tab. The box under the Mission Control title and the Search row in the menu were both retired — one box, one door. Tap the magnifier and type where you want to go ('fuel'), a name ('Hinckley Yard'), or a question ('when did I change the impeller?') — doors come first, then records, then help, then Ask. Tap a result to jump straight into it.
