Reroute mid-trip — change the destination from the chart
Underway and the plan changed? Tap Reroute on the chart, tap the new destination, say why with one chip, Save.
While a leg is in progress or paused, the chart's toolbar shows Reroute. Tap it and a banner says "Tap chart to set new destination"; the next tap on the chart drops a yellow candidate pin — nothing is committed yet. Tap the pin and the Reroute mid-trip sheet opens with the leg, where you are heading now, and the route change.
The reason takes one tap: Weather, Traffic / hazard, or Change of plan. Typing is optional — the text field is there for detail if you want it — and if you pick nothing the leg records "Rerouted from the chart". Revise ETA and Linked Observation are optional too. Save replaces the leg's route, keeps the old line and the new one in the leg's history with the reason, and the chart draws the new line.
For more than a new endpoint — extra waypoints, a different channel — tap Open in editor on the banner, replan the whole line, and Done brings you to the same sheet. Cancel on the banner clears the pin and changes nothing. Rerouting supplements your watch; it never replaces it.
Steps
-
Tap Reroute
On the Chart tab, with a leg underway or paused, tap Reroute in the toolbar. The banner "Tap chart to set new destination" appears at the bottom.
-
Tap the new destination
Tap the chart where you are heading. A yellow candidate pin lands there — tap it to open the sheet, or tap Cancel on the banner to think again.
-
Say why with a chip
Weather, Traffic / hazard, or Change of plan fills the reason in one tap. Add a line of detail if you like; leave it blank and the reason reads "Rerouted from the chart".
-
Save
Save replaces the route and logs the change with its reason. If the leg ended in the meantime — another phone finished it — the sheet says so instead of saving.
