Record a bill — where expenses come from

Bills are entered at the end of a cruise. Here is where the entry lives and what counts as an expense.

Bills live on a trip. You enter them in the End Trip wizard, at the Bills step, when you close out a cruise — date, who you paid, a category, the amount, and an optional note.

Categories: Dockage, Fuel, Provisioning, Maintenance, Yard, Customs & fees, Crew, Other.

Priced fills in the Fuel Log count too. You don't re-enter them as bills — the Expense Report picks them up on its own. If you logged a fill AND wrote the dock's invoice as a Fuel bill on the same day for the same amount, that's treated as one purchase, and the invoice wins because it has the payee you typed.

Not available: a bill that belongs to the boat rather than to a cruise — an annual insurance premium, a yard bill between seasons — has nowhere to go today. Every bill has to be attached to a trip you're ending. If that's blocking you, say so; it's a known gap, not a mystery.

Steps

  1. End the cruise

Open the trip and run End Trip. The wizard walks the close-out steps in order.

  2. Go to the Bills step

It's step 7 of 9. Tap the add button. On a crew member's phone signed in to the boat the step says bills are kept for the owner, captain and manager, so theirs are not shown there — and crew have no add button: the step says to give the bill to one of them.

  3. Fill it in

Date, vendor, category, amount. The note field is optional and is worth using for anything you'll want to recognise a year from now.

  4. Check it landed

Bills for the cruise show under the step with a running total. Tap a bill to edit it; Delete bill is in the same sheet, asks first, and you can undo straight afterwards.
