Jot — capture it in ten seconds, file it later
Get a thought out of your head and into the boat's record before it evaporates, without filling in a form.
The mate mentions a noise on the way in. You hear a new vibration at 2,300 RPM. Every one of those is real information with a short half-life — it usually dies in the twenty minutes between noticing it and having a hand free.
A jot is the smallest possible act of recording. Open it, say it or type it, add a photo if there is one, done. No category, no required fields, no decision to make while you are up a ladder with a torch in your teeth. Voice works too, which matters when both hands are busy.
Steps
-
Open the composer
Open the menu (☰) at the top left and tap Jot. That opens the Jot inbox; tap New at its top left for the composer. The menu is in the toolbar on the tab screens, not on every screen — if the screen you are on has no ☰, go back to a tab first.
-
Say it or type it
Title and body are all you need. The composer also has Who can see this and Targets sections; both are optional. Attach a photo or record a voice note if that is faster than typing.
-
Leave it
It waits in the Jot Inbox. Nothing is lost and nothing needs deciding yet.
