Voice memos on a leg

Record a voice memo on any leg. theONE transcribes it on this device, and both the caption and the transcript become searchable.

Voice memos live on legs, jots and saved notepad notes — open a leg and tap Record in its Voice Memos section. theONE transcribes it on this device after the recording stops; the transcript surfaces alongside the optional caption.

Steps

  1. Where to record

Open a trip → tap a leg → the Voice Memos section → Record. Jots and notepad notes take a voice memo too: tap Record voice memo under Voice in the jot composer or in a saved note. Trips themselves and observations do not take one.

  2. Auto-transcription

theONE transcribes after you stop, on this device only — your voice is never sent to Apple's servers for it. That needs iOS's speech model for your language on this device; when it is missing there is no transcript, theONE says so, and the memo still saves and plays back. iOS may prompt for Speech Recognition permission on first use — decline it and the memo still saves and plays back, it just gets no transcript.

  3. It's searchable

Search index includes voice-memo caption + transcript. Type a phrase you remember dictating; the search surfaces the owning leg.

  4. Privacy

The audio file stays on this device — it is never put in the sync queue. The caption and the transcript are stored on the leg itself, so they ride the leg's entry in that queue.
