The Jot Inbox — turn a jot into a real record
Work through what you captured and file each one where it belongs — observation, issue, maintenance, note and more.
The Jot Inbox is where captured jots wait until you are back at the table. Promoting one turns it into a proper record — the jot's text and photos are carried across, and the original stays linked so you can see where it came from.
A voice note does not move. None of the records a jot can become has a voice slot, so the recording stays on the jot, and the jot stays linked to the new record — nothing is lost, but you play it from the jot.
The picker lists Observation, Issue, Maintenance, Vendor, Stowage item, Calendar task, Supplies (needed), Trip log, Leg log, Playbook step and Incident.
Steps
-
Open the Jot Inbox
From the app shell toolbar. Everything you captured is listed newest first. Five tabs run across the top — Inbox, Routed, Linked, Filed and Archive. Filed holds the jots you have promoted into a record; a filed jot stays in Inbox too until you archive it.
-
Pick a jot and promote it
Choose what it should become. Rows you cannot use are dimmed and will not respond, not hidden — a row can be dimmed because your role cannot create that record, or because there is nothing to attach it to yet (Leg log needs a trip, Playbook step needs a playbook).
-
It keeps its history
The new record carries the text and the photos; an observation or a maintenance item takes up to five, an issue has no cap. A voice note stays on the jot. The jot stays linked rather than disappearing, so the trail from "heard a noise" to "impeller replaced" is intact and the recording is still there to play.
