Crew licenses — Captain's licenses and ABYC certs
Store every license, certificate, and credential for each crew member in their Crew Book entry.
Each crew member's Crew Book entry can hold their licenses, certs, and credentials with expiration dates. theONE tracks expirations and warns you before anything lapses — useful for charter operations and good practice for everyone.
Steps
-
Open the crew member
Menu (☰) → Settings → Ship's Directory → the Crew pill → tap the crew member. The Crew Book row was taken out of Settings so contacts would have one master door; crew cards live behind the Directory's Crew pill now.
-
Add a license
Scroll to MARITIME → Licenses → tap Add. Type the licence into the Kind field yourself — there is no list of types to choose from, and no issuing-authority field. Number, issued date and expiry date are each optional, and there is a Notes field. Add License stays disabled until Kind has something in it.
-
A licence carries no photo
A licence entry holds its type, number, issue date, expiry date and your notes — and nothing else. There is no Add Photo on the licence editor and no way to link a document to a licence.
To keep the card itself, scan it into Documents separately (Menu (☰) → Operational records → Documents → + → Add a photo, PDF or file → Scan Document) and put the document's name in the licence's notes so the two can be found together.
-
Expiration warnings
theONE pings you 60 days, 30 days, 7 days AND ON THE DAY a licence expires — four rungs, each at 9:00 in the morning. (The extra 90-day rung is for a USCG Certificate of Documentation only, not for crew licences.) They do not show up in Today: that screen's Expiring documents tile reads the document vault only. In the app a licence in its window shows an EXPIRING pill on the crew card, and an EXPIRED one once it lapses.
