Invite crew or a co-owner
Add people who help run the boat.
theONE supports six roles: guest, vendor, crew, captain, manager, owner. Pick the right one — more authority means more visible data and more ability to change things.
Steps
-
Open Member Users
Menu (☰) → Settings → Member Users.
-
Tap + Invite member
The sheet opens on Invite Role. After that, only a display name is required. Optional: email, and specialties (Captain, Engineer, Mate, Deckhand, Interior, Chef, Purser) for every role but vendor. A code for this phone only has no expiry to set. When the sheet is making a cloud code (next step), Email and Specialties are not asked for, and Choose when the code expires — up to 30 days out — sets how long the code works; left off, the code lasts 7 days. The next screen shows the date the cloud kept; a date more than 30 days away is shortened to 30, and it says so. A guest's code is made for one trip — see Bring a guest aboard.
-
Pick the role
Owner = full control, billing, ability to transfer the vessel. Manager = nearly owner; cannot transfer. Captain = trip control, observation logging, vendor management. Crew = task completion and observation logging; Doors and keys lists exactly what each role starts with. Vendor = a contractor who uses theONE on their own phone: three tabs — Mission Control, Observations and More — and only the systems their vendor card covers. To send a company a job by email you need no invite: add it under Vendors and assign it to the work order.
-
What the invite does
Which code Send makes is said under the button before you tap it. When the boat on screen is the one linked in Account, your role there is captain or above, and the role you are inviting — crew, captain, manager or vendor — is below yours, Send makes a cloud code, XXXX-XXXX, for the person's own phone. The code screen names the boat it joins. Otherwise it records the member on this phone and hands you a six-digit code matched against THIS phone's records only (the onboarding "Have an invite code?" door). Once they join, the person appears in Member Users under On this boat in the cloud; until then Account lists the codes nobody has used yet, and Cancel code there stops one before it is used.
-
Extend or revoke later
Open a member from Member Users to extend the toggle their role carries, when they hold it — Extend Captain Access, Extend Owner Authority or Extend Temporary Elevation, for 1 day, 7 days, 30 days or a date you pick — or to Revoke Access. Extend moves only the end date of access already given, lapsed included; it never gives authority the member did not hold, and a revoked toggle is given again from their Keys, not here. A role cannot be changed after the invite is made; revoke the member and invite them again under the new role. An owner sees the Approvals row in Settings and approves extension requests there; a manager sees it only while Owner Authority is delegated to them and still active — see 'Pre-expiry banners and extension requests'.

Invite by cloud code (another phone)
For crew on their own phone: Menu (☰) → Settings → Account, link this boat's cloud vessel. Then + Invite member in Member Users makes the code, or Make an invite code under Linked in Account does. Read them the XXXX-XXXX code or tap Share. A captain makes cloud codes once the owner or a manager turns on May make invite codes on the captain's row under ON THIS BOAT IN THE CLOUD in Member Users; turning it off stops the codes that captain made and nobody has used. That switch is the cloud's. It is not Allow this captain to invite crew and vendors, which is this phone's own and sits on the captain's page in the list above (tap the row); neither sets the other. On a new phone they tap Have an invite code? on the Welcome screen, enter it, and sign in or make an account right there; on a phone already set up, they enter it in Account. One person, one use; 7 days unless you set an expiry in Member Users (up to 30). Codes nobody has used yet are listed under Linked; Cancel code stops one.
