Importing contacts — one search screen, roles included
Bring people from your device's contacts into theONE through one searchable screen, and set who they are to the boat before anything saves.
Anywhere theONE imports from your device's contacts, you land in one full-screen searchable list — the search field is permanently at the top, and you can tick several people at once. Every import is still reviewed person-by-person before anything saves, and the review screen is where you tell theONE who they are to the boat.
Steps
-
Search, tick, confirm
Start an import (Ship's Directory → Import Crew from Contacts, or Crew Book → From Contacts). Type a few letters, tick everyone you want, and review each person in turn — nothing saves until you confirm it.
-
Set their role right there
On the review screen, 'Role aboard' sets who they are — Vendor, Crew, Captain, Manager or Owner, never a role above your own — before the card is ever created. Guests are not imported: a guest is their own record, made with New Guest in the Ship's Directory. Pick Vendor and a trade field appears. No more importing first and re-opening the card to fix what they are.
-
Add the details now or later
'Add more details' on the same screen takes allergies, dietary notes, preferred bunk and shirt size — and, for the owner, captain or manager, medical notes: the parts of the crew card the owner, captain and manager plan the galley and the trip from. All optional; everything can be finished later on the card.
-
First time asks permission
The browser needs the iOS Contacts permission once. If the list comes up empty, iOS is sharing only a limited set — the screen offers the Settings door to grant Full Access.
