Share a route with someone
Send a route you've built to another captain, or to a chartplotter or another app.
Any route you've built can be handed to someone else. Open the row menu in Routes (or long-press the row) and pick Share.
There are two files, and the menu says which is which:
- Share route — for another boat running theONE. It carries the line, the waypoint names, your passage notes, the route color, and who sent it. The other captain sees "From <your name> · <your boat>" before they add it.
- Share as GPX — the universal route file. Garmin, Simrad, Lowrance, B&G, Raymarine, Furuno and most planning apps read it. It carries the line and the labels; notes and color do not survive the format.
Either one hands off through the normal iPhone share sheet, so AirDrop, Messages, Mail and Save to Files all work — and all of them work with no signal, sitting at the dock. Nothing is uploaded anywhere and nobody needs an account at the other end.
Steps
-
Open your routes
Open the chart from Mission Control and tap Routes. Every saved route is listed, most recent first.
-
Pick Share on the route
Tap the menu button on the route's row and choose Share — or long-press the row, which shows the same two entries.
-
Choose which file
"Share route" for another theONE. "Share as GPX" for a chartplotter or another app. A route needs at least two waypoints before either is offered — a single mark imports as noise on every brand.
-
Send it
The standard share sheet opens. AirDrop to the boat next door, attach it to a message or an email, or Save to Files and copy it onto the plotter's card.
-
From a trip leg instead
A leg's detail sheet has the same Share menu, next to "Save route file (GPX)". Sharing from there sends that leg's own waypoint chain.
