Engine fluids — oil pressure and coolant temp

Track oil pressure and coolant temperature — live from the engine ECU, or entered by hand.

With a Wi-Fi gateway on the boat's NMEA 2000 network, oil pressure, coolant temperature, oil temperature and fuel rate read live from the engine ECU. Without one, the per-engine coolant and oil tiles on Mission Control hold readings you enter by hand from your helm gauges.

A persistent low-oil-pressure reading should be treated as urgent — slow down, investigate, and consider shutting down even if the cause might just be a stuck sender.

Steps

  1. Log readings today

Read coolant temperature and oil temperature off your helm gauges. In the Live telemetry section on Mission Control, tap Edit values and fill in the Coolant (°F) and Oil (°F) rows under Engines — one pair per main engine. There is no oil-pressure field to type into.

  2. Watch the trend

Open a tile's history. Coolant that runs a few degrees hotter each week at the same load points at a raw-water problem before it becomes an alarm.

  3. Set engine alerts

Menu (☰) → Settings → Vessel Setup → Engine Alerts. Set warn and urgent temperatures per engine. An alert trips when you save a reading past the threshold.

  4. Live now — with a bridge installed

Oil pressure, coolant temperature and fuel rate arrive from the engine ECU via a Wi-Fi gateway, decoded from PGN 127489.

This needs a NMEA bridge (a Wi-Fi gateway) physically installed on the boat's NMEA 2000 network. Without one there is nothing to read and entry stays by hand.
