Give a vendor the history they need
Send a vendor the last service on a system, who did it, and what is still open — without the cost.
When a work order goes to a vendor by email it now carries a HISTORY section: the vendor's own previous work on the boat (up to five jobs, whole boat), the last five service events on the system the job is linked to — date, what was done, hours at service and whether the bus counted them or a person typed them, and who did it — and the open observations on that system that are not already in the job. Crew are never named; work with no vendor card behind it reads "crew". Phone numbers and emails never travel. Cost is never included unless you switch it on for that one send. The whole section is dropped when the vendor's card has "view history" turned off.
Steps
-
Check the vendor card allows it
Menu (☰) → Settings → Vendors → the vendor → Permissions (Ship's Directory → the Vendors pill reaches the same card). "View history on in-scope systems" must be on; when it is off, the work-order email says nothing about the past and the Share history row explains why.
-
Open Share history before you send
On the work order (or on the Assign vendor sheet, above the list) tap the "Share history" row. It reads "This system · Last 12 months" until you change it.
-
Choose how much
This system (default) is the one unit the job is linked to. Its category adds every system of the same kind — the starboard main alongside the port. Whole boat is everything. Last 12 months or Everything sets how far back. A job with no linked system shares only the vendor's own previous work unless you pick Whole boat.
-
Decide about cost and names
"Include costs" is off and stays off unless you turn it on for this send. "Show vendor names" is on; turn it off and other vendors read as "another vendor" — the recipient's own work is always "you", crew is always "crew".
-
Send
Tap the vendor (Assign vendor) or "Send request to vendor" (work order). The HISTORY section sits after the scope of work and before your sign-off; read it in the composer before you hit send.
