Boat IT — WiFi passwords and account logins
Store the boat's WiFi passwords, Starlink credentials, marina account logins, and other IT secrets in one private vault.
Boat IT — the screen and the Settings row both use that name — is a secure store for every credential the boat needs — WiFi SSIDs and passwords, Starlink admin, marina WiFi, navigation accounts, anything you'd otherwise scribble on a card in the helm. Passwords are held only in this device's Keychain — never in theONE's own files, a backup or an export — and iOS keeps them only on a device with a passcode: on a phone with no passcode, theONE refuses to save a password and says why (the rest of the entry still saves). You re-enter passwords on a new phone, and after theONE is deleted and installed again. The rest of an entry — title, username, URL / host and notes — is included in a backup you create, and entries marked as travelling with the hull can ride a vessel transfer file — only the ones you switch on there, one by one, locked with a passphrase you set.
Steps
-
Open the vault
Menu (☰) → Settings → Boat IT. The vault opens with no prompt. Face ID or Touch ID is asked one password at a time, when you tap the eye, while the Hide passwords until Face ID switch in Settings → Privacy & Lock is on — it is on by default, it reads Touch ID on a Touch ID device, and it covers every password, the ones saved before it was turned on too. Face ID or Touch ID opens them, or the device passcode if they don't work — the normal iPhone way, so anyone who knows this phone's passcode can open them too. Boat IT is always covered in the App Switcher. The row reads 'Boat IT', not 'Boat IT Vault', and it is not on the Stowage tab — that tab carries inventory only, and its Settings row is shown to vendors alone.
-
Add a credential
Tap +. Pick a Category — Wi-Fi, Alarm & security, Marina & slip, Insurance, Registration, Streaming & subscriptions or Other. Title is the only field you have to fill; Username, Password, URL / host and Notes are all optional.
-
Share with crew
Sharing is set per entry, not at invite time: in an entry you are allowed to share, the Shared with row opens a member list and you tick who may see it. The owner and management see every entry; a captain or crew member sees only the entries shared with them. Sharing is recorded on this phone only: Boat IT is never sent to the cloud, so a member's own phone does not receive an entry shared with them. Tell them the Wi-Fi password yourself.
-
Tap to copy
Tap any entry to view the detail. Username and URL / host each carry a copy button; the password's copy button appears once you have revealed it with the eye. Anything you copy stays on this device and clears itself after two minutes.
-
On a new or restored phone
A restore brings back every entry but not its password, so an entry can still say a password is saved. Tap the eye and theONE says the password stayed in the Keychain of the phone it was saved on. In an entry you can edit, Enter password puts you in the Password field — type it once and Save keeps it on this phone.
