Pre-expiry banners and extension requests
With notifications allowed, theONE notifies you 12 hours, 6 hours and 1 hour before your access toggle expires, and tapping one opens a sheet to acknowledge or request an extension. With notifications off, a banner counts the last 24 hours down instead.
Permission toggles (Captain Edit Toggle, Owner Authority Delegated, Temporary Elevation) carry an expiry. theONE warns you in two stages so you're never surprised.
Steps
-
Banner — 24 hours out
When a toggle on your own membership is within 24 hours of expiring and you have not allowed notifications, a banner appears at the top of every screen. It states the kind of access, the boat, and the time remaining.
-
Notifications — 12h, 6h, 1h
theONE schedules three local notifications — 12 hours, 6 hours and 1 hour before expiry — when you have allowed notifications. Tapping one opens the acknowledgement sheet, with "Request extension" and "Got it". Nothing blocks the app: the modal no longer opens by itself when you come back to it. If you have not allowed notifications, an amber banner sits across the top instead — "Captain Edit expires in 4h 10m", the boat's name, a Request extension button and an ✕ — counting down whichever of your own toggles runs out first. The ✕ only hides the banner; it ends nothing. If you are allowed to end that access yourself, the banner also carries an 'End my <access> now' link, which asks before it ends anything. A captain does not get it for his own Captain Edit: the owner gave it, and the owner takes it back.
-
Request an extension
Both the acknowledgement sheet and the banner carry a 'Request extension' button. The request goes to the owner, and to a manager while the owner's authority is delegated to them — on their own phones as well, once yours and theirs have synced with the boat, and the answer comes back to yours: the Request extension sheet shows your last request and what became of it; your acknowledgement is recorded either way.
-
Owner approves
Menu (☰) → Settings → Approvals. The owner sees pending extension requests there and approves or denies them, and so does a manager while Owner Authority is delegated to them and still active; a manager without it sees no Approvals row and cannot answer one. Approve to extend; deny to let the access lapse.
