Email a service advisor or vendor

Send the photos and notes to a vendor contact who already has an email on file.

When you need a mechanic's eyes on something, theONE composes an email with the recipient, the observation's photos, description, system and severity already filled in. Edit anything you want and tap Send.

Steps

  1. Open the observation

Maintenance tab → tap the observation that needs eyes on it.

  2. Find the envelope — it is not always drawn

There is no standalone Email action on the drawer. The composer opens from the ENVELOPE ICON on a vendor person's row, and that row only appears once TWO things are true: a vendor is assigned to this observation in the Assignment section, and that vendor has a contact with an email address on file. Miss either and there is no button to find.

Once it is there, tapping it opens the iOS Mail composer. theONE pre-fills the recipient with that contact's email address; a subject of "theONE — <severity> — <observation title>", cut at 80 characters; and a plain-text body that opens "Hi <first name>,", names the vendor company, then sets out the observation in a structured block. The observation's photos are attached as JPEGs.

  3. Adjust if needed

Edit the recipient, tweak the body, add a contextual line ('Can we get this on the schedule next week?'), and Send. The composer is normal iOS Mail — uses whichever account you've set up there.

  4. Mail not set up?

On a fresh device or a simulator, iOS Mail may not be configured. The composer cannot open then, so theONE hands off to a mailto: link in your default mail app instead, carrying the same subject and body. Photos do not travel that way — the body gains a line saying how many are on file so you can attach them by hand.

There is no Copy to Clipboard on this path — that fallback belongs to the work-order request flow, not to the observation email. Set up a mail account, or assign the vendor to a work order and send it from there, which does copy to the clipboard when Mail is unavailable.
